Reports, Essays and a Bicycle Accident

25 11 2008

And here I am… back for good (Take That, 1995) – I have become highly accustomed to referencing in APA

Crash goes the bike during a "blank episode"

Crash goes the bike

format over the past few weeks, looking at reports and essays, and trying to write a few of my own. I, as I always do as you may notice if you keep up with My Psychological Ramblings…, is that during term time at University, I have to take a break from writing online due to the sheer amount of work.

However, against my doctor’s advice, here I am typing… and why, you may ask, have I got the time to do this now? It’s because amongst the essays and the reports, I crashed my bike whilst blanking out during my rush to a tutorial. Irony.

I now have a broken thumb (appreciate this post, as it is extremely difficult to write), unable to write a thing, and have been told not to type (most of this post has been typed with the left hand – I am slowly but surely learning to become ambidextrous). What a nuisance this has caused! I am now falling far behind with all my work, unable to make notes, hit my head so get headaches here and there resulting in the inability to concentrate – and evidently getting a lower mark in my degree, once again!

Wish me luck on my X-Ray…

The Gift of the Gorgon

3 11 2008

A play written by Peter Shaffer tells us the story of a playwright named Edward Damson, using the greek myth of Perseus and Athena, and the gorgon Medusa as a metaphor to tell parts of the story.

And I was in it!

In the heart of The University of York (in the Drama Barn – literally a barn), took place a production of Shaffer’s classic this weekend. Tonight saw the last performance in which I was in a smock for Perseus as well as using House as my inspiration for walking with a cane for Jarvis.

A dark play with comical scenes gradually got darker and darker as the 3 hours were almost up. The ending (look away now if you don’t want to be spoiled) saw the playwright get covered in blood as he falls to his death down a steep cliff of lava for which the island of Thera is famous for.

With one of the best cast and production and direction that I have been with, this has truly been a great production. Now to see to my bed which I haven’t seen much of during production week…
