Boxing Day Mania – The dfs Sale

OK, not quite. I’m not too interested in how much sitting down has reduced in price, but Boxing Day is the beginning for many stores in Britain to start their January Sale… in December. So I thought I’d go down to Westfields, Europe’s largest city shopping centre, in White City, London.

The shopping centre is rather overwhelming, and reminds me of Roppongi, Tokyo. Fascinating interior and exterior, shiny floors and massive stores that you would never believe would fit inside a centre. The location is ideal, as it is in the heart of West London, with 2 new bus stations and 2 new train stations (one tube and one overground). West London is now becoming ever so closer to becoming the new East London.

However, I must say am disappointed with the sale this year. It was rumored to be the biggest Christmas sale in a long time, with shops doing major price cuts, but I did not find many of them around. The queues were also tiring (who said Brits liked to queue?) and couldn’t get a bite to eat anywhere. Apart from that, Westfields I must say is one heck of a place to go, and is rather impressive. If you have a wad of cash to spend, head down to The Village as well, where the likes of Gucci and Louis Vuitton will soon grace it’s area.

If you have a day to kill… spend it here. It’s amazing. If you have the money (I suggest doing a whizz round the 2 floors before purchasing anything).
