I have just graduated from The University of York with a Psychology degree and have completed my CertTESOL as well. I have a keen interest in theatre, and have completed the LAMDA awards to grade 8 and joined the National Youth Theatre. I enjoy helping people gain educational knowledge no matter what the level is and I love to work on a one-on-one basis to ensure that learning takes place. I am very organised and may take a theatrical approach at times to ensure that knowledge is retained for recall at a later stage.

With Biology, I teach up to A-Level Biology and have used a lot of biological approaches within my Psychology degree. I am very familiar with the Edexcel Salters-Nuffield syllabus, though I will be able to adapt as necessary to different syllabuses.

I have a lot of drama experience, from acting to directing and producing. I have also teched a lot of shows too and was part of a team that ran a theatre at University. Therefore, this combined with experience through the LAMDA grades and as an active member of the National Youth Theatre, I can bring a very rounded approach to teaching drama and theatre.

I have completed a degree in Psychology and therefore know the difference between that and the A-Level. It is important to note that different Universities have different modules and sometimes approaches, but I am able to adapt to different styles as I have helped other students from different Universities before. I know the A-Level syllabus really well and can tutor this course as well.

I have just completed a CertTESOL with Trinity College, London. I have also gained a lot of classroom and tutoring experience through the course and therefore am very confident in teaching EFL for various exam levels and meeting individual needs. This also adds to my ability to teach reading and writing skills for both general English and also specific to exam techniques and styles – especially within Science related subjects.

Teaching Experience:
I have completed a YSIS programme whereby I volunteered a primary school in Science and P.E. lessons. I have also worked at Burleigh College teaching English as a foreign language and ICT to mature students. I have also gained teaching experience on various levels (from pre-intermediate to advanced, and observed those studying for CPE and FCE) through my CertTESOL course. I have also done needs-analysis based lessons to ensure that my students are taught what is essential, combined with a focus on what they want to learn themselves. I have a lot of private tutoring experience in a range of subjects that I teach.

Tutoring Approach:

A one-on-one basis which is conducted on a needs-analysis basis. Each student is approached with a fresh slate, ensuring that a teaching approach that is suitable for the specific student is used. Some theatrical methods are also used to ensure that interaction and involvement is taken place as I believe that this is more memorable and a more active approach to learning than sitting and working purely from a textbook. Nevertheless, it is important to reference textbooks when teaching primarily for an exam.

If you would like private tutoring, please see the list below for subjects that I teach.

I will proofread any material for any subject.

Please note that I can only accept students via Skype or email from April until further notice.

A PayPal account is required for sessions to commence.
